Gantt Miller – Who I Am

Gantt stop. Won’t stop working for Tahoe.

I’m an adventure-loving father of four wonderful kids, and my family is proud to call South Lake Tahoe home. Until this spring when I declared my candidacy for City Council, I wrote the Tahoe Dad column for the Tahoe Mountain News.

Many people know me through my rockstar wife, Jayme Miller, who chaired the Foreign Language Department at South Tahoe High School for many years and chaperoned lots of trips to Europe for local students.

Why I'm Running

As a former civics and history teacher, I care deeply about good government. I believe effective, accountable leadership matters, and I know that's something our city has been missing.

I've spent the past two decades investing in this community, not just through my career, but through service. I've volunteered with TAP, the Ukulele Club at Bijou Elementary School, Rotary, TAMBA, Boy Scouts, High Sierra Softball, AYSO, PABA, South Tahoe High School Boosters, TCC, and many other local organizations.

My family has also served as a foster family, opening our home to scores of children and families during times of crisis. Those experiences have strengthened my belief that strong communities are built by people who step up to help their neighbors.

For the past 20 years, the income I've generated has been additive to South Tahoe rather than extractive. I earn my living primarily outside the Tahoe Basin, while spending those earnings here at home, supporting local businesses, raising my family, and investing in the community. Many newer Tahoe families share this model, and they play an important role in the economic and civic life of our town.

Professional background

Professionally, I manage sales across most of the western United States for Winco Window Company. When I moved to Tahoe in 2005, Winco had never sold a window in Northern California. Today, my sales agency is consistently among Winco’s top architectural sales representatives in the country. Building long-term relationships, supporting family-owned businesses, and creating sustainable growth have been central to my professional success. Those same values: hard work, accountability, and practical problem-solving are what I will bring to the South Lake Tahoe City Council.
